Based in Montreal, Stuart brings his unique combination of medical technology expertise and a deep understanding of the healthcare industry to BCF and its clients. His role at BCF includes assisting clients with the pre-stage corporate development and structuring, funding, development and commercialization of medical technologies. Stuart’s industry knowledge and experience aim to help provide high-value focused business strategies for exploiting technological developments in the healthcare sector, particularly those related to medical devices. By combining both Stuart’s professional background and leadership skills, he expands and fosters links with key stakeholders and decision makers in the healthcare community, enabling to build strong and long-lasting partnerships to the benefit both the ecosystem and the patients.
With over 15 years of experience in medical technologies, Stuart is an accomplished leader, engineer, and business development professional who leverages a strong foundation in medical research and product development. He is recognized for the ability to master complex science, engineering and medical applications in addition to his business and organizational development experience. Stuart’s expertise spans several clinical areas, including electrophysiology, structural heart, cardiovascular, endovascular, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, orthopedics and surgical devices. Prior to joining BCF, Stuart worked for one of the world’s largest medical device companies and one of Canada’s fastest-growing robotics companies, Kinova Inc., as the Vice President of Medical Robotics. Most recently, Stuart has been appointed as Professor of Practice at McGill University’s Faculty of Medicine, Department of Surgery. In this role, Stuart’s focus is on coaching and mentoring both faculty and students in focused areas of medical device research, development, innovation, quality, regulatory and clinical affairs.
Stuart currently represents the Quebec healthcare and health technology ecosystem by sitting on three renowned committees as a member of the TransMedTech Institute’s Board of Governors, the CTS Santé’s Board of Directors, and the Industrial Advisory Board of Concordia University’s Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering.
