Rafael Diana is a senior engineer and subject matter expert in medical devices, product development, R&D, project management and business development. With a 25 year career in the greater Boston area, his background includes a variety of professional roles as Senior Engineer, Consultant and Director. His work with GE Healthcare, Smith & Nephew, Nypro, and Texcel (Cirtec) among others, has given him the knowledge and expertise to bring products to market with intrinsic patient value in a cost-effective and efficient manner. He regularly mentors and shares his expertise with colleagues on numerous subject areas for medical device and healthcare technology development and occasionally speaks to share his experience with a wider audience.
He holds 2 patents one for MRI compatible locating catheter for the treatment of atrial fibrillation and tissue ablation and the other for continuous perfusion system. Product portfolio experience includes endoscopes, catheters, active implantables and LVADs, sensors, numerous single use devices and most recently bioprocessing systems for the manufacture of drugs and antivirus.
Mr. Diana practices a UX and customer-centric design and management philosophy with emphasis on customer needs, practicality and results. Mr. Diana has completed post graduate education from WPI, Bentley College and MIT. Areas of expertise include R&D, project management, hands on prototyping and development, single use, molding, manufacturing, packaging, sterilization & irradiation, miniaturization, laser welding, adhesives and other material joining technologies.
