The Robot Operating System (ROS) is a major control framework for implementing distributed control in applications such as robotics. Designed to facilitate synchronized operation of multiple, interconnected processors, ROS provides mechanisms for the command, control and reporting of various devices and sensors using a well-defined networked framework. In this session, we will introduce ROS, its operating model and how ROS can be used to create distributed control systems. We will then demonstrate ROS running on a small robot to illustrate the concepts.
ROS is a great framework for getting started in distributed control. The attendees will learn about ROS, its operating modes, and why you might choose ROS for your next distributed control application.
