When embedded systems are deployed in applications employing electromechanical feedback loops, the embedded system latency and response time becomes subordinate to the response time of the overall system. Even more critically, when the embedded system is part of a safety system, system dynamics and constraints have to be taken into account during design and deployment. At Veo Robotics, we have developed an advanced vision application for safe human-robot interaction. Issues relating to robot dynamics and robot controller latencies are critical in the architecting and programming of embedded vision systems for such applications.
