With NHTSA’s goal of the US having zero auto fatalities, the auto industry must move toward more Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) with the ultimate goal of fully Automated Driving. While the system complexity to achieve this is technically daunting, it also creates an open range of solutions being provided by the entire supplier community. The majority of OEMs are spending millions of dollars annually to tackle the technological issues critical to implementing a systems level approach to vehicle safety required by government regulations and consumer demand. SAE has been supporting active safety development through its industry standards activities and various sessions in the SAE World Congress.
This session has been developed to bring the ADAS community together with the embedded systems community to present the current state of the industry and to discuss the promise of embedded systems and the potential solutions they may provide for the industry. Presentations are focused around the current state of the OEM strategies and development on active safety systems along with technology solutions in development by the tier supplier community for near and long-term solutions of advanced driver assist systems (ADAS).
This session is designed to share the current state of the industry, the various regulatory activities and expectations by the government, and present a path for the future of active safety technology in the automotive industry.
